Last year's race was a huge success - nearly 500 participants ran the 5K! The annual event was created to promote fitness in Jackson County, as well as to give a helping hand to local charities.
Polyamide High Performance President and CEO Carlos Serrano (right) holds a check for $11,520.00, representing the proceeds of the 2nd Annual PHP 5K Invitational Road race and is presented to the President of Jackson County Christmas Charities, Cindy Hymer.
As to the success of the event last year, Serrano said, "It was amazing. It definitely exceeded all of our expectations." Serrano said that he hopes to have over 1,000 participants this year.
The 3.1 mile (5 kilometers) race through Goose Pond colony had 482 runners, joggers or walkers participating in the event. the invitational was co-sponsored by the Scottsboro Tri-Sport Athletic Association. Citizens from across Jackson County, as well as Huntsville and Chattanooga took part in the event.
